2020 Turkey Earthquake

Sivrice, Elazığ, Turkey — January 24, 2020

The 2020 Elazığ earthquake killed 41 people in eastern Turkey, with many victims trapped under collapsed older masonry buildings in the town of Sivrice. The earthquake struck along the East Anatolian Fault, a known seismic hazard zone that had been largely dormant for several decades before the 2023 Kahramanmaraş events.
