The 2020 Aegean Sea earthquake killed 117 people in İzmir, Turkey and 2 on the Greek island of Samos. Tsunami waves reached up to 1.5 meters. The disaster highlighted ongoing seismic risk across the Aegean, where multiple active fault systems threaten densely populated coastal cities.
